Welcome to Red Wing Community Garden

Our mission is to:

  1. Provide green space for organic gardening in a community garden setting to any interested area gardener.
  2. Provide free educational opportunities to all interested area gardeners taught by knowledgeable local gardeners.

Thank you for your interest in the Community Garden. We hope you find this website as a gateway to what the Community Garden has to offer: a garden contract for current and interested gardeners; a group discussion site to share garden related topics, such as pest control, recipes, planting and harvesting tips, etc.; garden photos; and a list of local garden resources.

About Red Wing Community Gardens

We currently have two public gardens: Spring Creek Garden located one mile south of Hwy 61 on Spring Creek Avenue with 48 single (10x20’) plots and the new Bluff garden on Bluff and 4th Streets, near downtown Red Wing.

Single size plots are 10x20’ plots, and rent for $20/plot, double size plots are 20x20’ and rent for $30/plot. Fee waivers are available upon request. Both gardens are strictly organic, in that any soil amendments, pesticides, or herbicides must be organic, if you have any questions please see our resource page or contact the garden coordinator. Both gardens are fenced in an attempt to keep deer and other garden loving mammals out. Gardeners will be asked to help with garden work periodically throughout the year and will be asked to mulch, using the provided wood chips, all of the paths immediately around their garden. City compost will be available for those who choose to use it; a notice when it is or has been delivered will be posted at the top of this page in Announcements.

Please consider planting additional plants, in case of theft, loss due to pests, and the RW community gardens strongly recommends and supports Plant a Row for the Hungry.
